rainy day blues

Note: I’ll be out of town this weekend celebrating the holiday! All calls and emails will be return on Monday. Happy Fourth of July!

This session was, at first, a casualty of the horrific weather we’ve been having lately. Being that I do a lot of work outdoors, I am always checking the weather before a session. Somehow, a surprise storm snuck up on us (well, not that surprising considering the weather as of late) just as myself and the M. family were arriving at our location. A total bummer. We rescheduled and luckily our second shot was dry… for the most part. It had just rained (again… SHOCKING!) and it was pretty wet, muggy and buggy. I was very happy when the sun made it’s appearance about halfway through!

Despite our weather woes, this session was fantastic. Another set of multiples… twins!… and their doting older sister.

Thanks, M. family, for your infinite patience with this wet weather we’ve been having. I’d say the hassle was totally worth it!

What can I say about the G. family? Such a down to earth bunch. I felt so at ease at their home and honestly, could have photographed their two beautiful girls all day. Not only were they very photogenic and well behaved, but boy do these girls have an amazing wardrobe. There were several pieces I would have liked for myself!

Mom warned me that, like many girls her age, A. was a bit shy. I’m happy to say that my “magic” worked, and she warmed up quite quickly. In fact, I was bestowed the honor of being the only one (not even mom and dad!) who was allowed to dress her and put in her ponytail. Now that is quite an honor!

This was definitely one of those sessions where I had too many favorites to choose from. Thanks for a great session, G. family! I am happy to come back and be A.’s personal stylist anytime!

a saratoga saturday

It’s impossible to ever tire of working in Saratoga. There are so many amazing locations, and I’m glad my clients usually share my excitement about them! This Saturday I got to spend a beautiful morning at two of my favorite ‘Toga spots!

The M. family came from Lake George for their session. 3-year old B. totally epitomized his age for me. Very independent, a little stubborn and quick on his feet… but SO darn cute, with smiles and laughs right under the surface. All it takes is a bit of silliness and a handful of bug jokes. And his brother A.? Easy as pie! Just check out those dimples.

While I was up there, I also got to see the F.’s and their sweet little girl, who I’ve been photographing since she was cooking in her mama’s belly. I loved the outfits they chose! You can’t get much better than a bare baby in a little pink skirt.

f., 7 days

Newborns… I never tire of them. I did E.’s maternity session a few months again and absolutely could not wait for their newborn session. They have the coolest house, and I knew they’d be laid back parents who would indulge my every whim.

F. arrived just before I left to get married, and I was so glad I was able to squeeze him in before. Talk about one content, sleepy newborn!

Gorgeous mama…

F. was a big baby… 9 pounds and change when he was born… and I LO VE chubby babies! The eyelashes and the peach fuzz in this image make me melt.

Welcome to the world, little boy. E. and K., thank you for letting me into your lives to capture this special time!

one little, two little, three little super fast one year olds!

Like most photographers, I LOVE working with multiples. It is such a fun and interesting dynamic to capture, and most of the time, a welcome challenge. Mama C. recently contacted me about doing a session with her 3-year old and 14 month old triplets. Now, I consider myself a pretty seasoned photographer. I have worked with many, many toddlers and tricky 1-year olds. But I must admit, hearing those ages (and the sheer number of them!) definitely made me a liiiittle bit nervous.

The session was quite active… not gonna lie!… but I was so happy with the wonderful shots we captured. The triplets were very interested in me and my camera, so it wasn’t too tough to get their attention. I must say though, I give MAJOR credit to their mama. She is one busy, busy lady!!

Meet big sister, A., who has adapted to her role quite swimmingly…

How do you get four under four to sit on a bench, you ask? A mom, a photographer, two very kind and patient neighbors, a little bit of luck, and whole lot of hootin’ and hollerin’!

And just one more, because it makes me laugh!

It was lovely working with you, C. family! I can’t wait to watch your trio grow (and their big sis, of course!) Thanks for the fun morning, and for the workout!

welcome home, little guy

The K. family brought home their baby boy, M., just a few short months ago in January. My assistant, Jillian, who is M.’s aunt, gifted them a session, which I thought couldn’t be a more perfect way to celebrate this occasion. They wanted to wait a bit for M. to get settled at home, and for his personality to come out before I came over. And well, I think it did! I had the privilege of meeting a happy, expressive little boy who is obviously SMITTEN by his “omma” and “appa”!

I’d say luck runs both ways in this situation. The K.’s are obviously so blessed to welcome their beautiful son, but M. is one lucky guy to have such a sweet and loving family! Congratulations, K. family!

portraits at the peekamoose

I’m back from the Cape a married woman, and needing to catch up on some much overdue blog posts! I’ve been so excited to blog this particular set.

One of my clients owns the FANTASTIC Peekamoose Restaurant & Tap Room in the Catskills. The last time I traveled down, I was marveling over how beautiful the restaurant and property were. M. and her husband have tons of family members and  valued customers, so we thought it would be great to host a mini session event for them. Thus, baby brunch was born.

I don’t think it gets much better than photographing families in a gorgeous setting, plus being able to indulge in a delicious brunch buffet (complete with mimosas!). I got to meet some really great families and adorable little ones. Here’s a sampling of some of the images.

Thanks so much, M. & D., for an amazing day, and letting me use your beautiful restaurant and grounds! And blog readers, it is a MUST to make the trip down to the Peekamoose for dinner. It only takes me an hour and a half to get there and it’s a super straight shot from Albany (only two turns!) They serve locally grown foods and have a wonderful selection. Plus, they are kid friendly, with a children’s menu AND the coolest playroom I’ve ever seen. So check them out!

I will be out of the office Friday, June 20, returning Wednesday, June 23rd. All phone calls, emails and inquiries will be returned on Wednesday. Summer availability is getting gobbled up so fast, so be sure to drop me a line if you are looking to book a session in July or August!

I swear I have a good reason for leaving during such a busy time of year… I’m getting married! My fiance, Michael, and I, plus our immediate families, will be in Cape Cod (Chatham, for you Cape lovers!) tying to knot on Sunday the 21st.

And hey, while I’m gone, be sure to check out some of my friends by clicking here. It’s a short list… always growing!… of some of my favorite child-related groups and businesses in the area.

Keep your fingers crossed for beautiful weather for us. See you on the “other side!”

play ball

As you can tell by looking at my recent work, the bulk of the families I work with have children elementary aged and younger. While I LOVE my babies and toddlers, it’s so great when I get to photograph an older kid. It’s easier (no chasing, dancing and singing involved), plus it’s nice to be able to hold a conversation!

I remember preteen days very vividly. When I met N., I was blown away by how mature, sweet and non-preeteen-ish he was. He greeted me with a huge smile and a handshake and was more than willing to do whatever I asked. I really could have hung out with him all day!

N., his mom and I headed down to the state plaza for our session. These images are a very special Father’s Day gift for N.’s much loved dad. He happens to be battling cancer right now, and it warms me heart and soul to know that he is doing so with an amazing wife and son by his side! Please, blog readers, say a prayer or put into your thoughts this fabulous family.

summer in the city

I have been dying to share this session, but this week has been so busy, I haven’t had time to come up for air. But now… behold! The U. family is one of the most fun and laid back families I know. They are always up for ANYTHING and will indulge my every whim. I sure like clients like that. ;) The ages of their children make it easy to do fun and casual lifestyle photography.

We decided to head to downtown Albany for a session with an urban flair. I had so much fun… I don’t think I’ve laughed that much at a session in a long time! I can’t help but post a large showcase of images. They tell such a story, and there is no way I can narrow down my favorites!

This is the one shot I really wanted. I think it really sums like the American lifestyle! Plus, after trekking all around Albany (including the State St. hill… holy moly) we were all in need of a drink!

U. family, it was a pleasure… as always!!

Thank you! I will return your inquiry within 24-48 hours.
