I first met J. when she was still cooking in her mama’s belly. They constituted my very first maternity session ever. I started doing maternity sessions a little late in the game, but I’m so glad I did. They ended up being some of my favorite sessions to do. And of course, the icing on the cake is knowing I’ll get to photograph a newborn in a few weeks.
On the 4th of July, 2008, I met this squishy little girl…
And this weekend, I had the pleasure of seeing her again… this time, only a few weeks shy of her first birthday. I was happy to see that she is just as gorgeous, with even more curly hair!

J.’s mom told me she is a very serious baby… which is totally fine, of course, and my goal is to capture her as she really is. But, I couldn’t resist trying to squeak out a smile or two. Well… I didn’t have to do much. It was mom’s silly dance that brought out the big smile (complete with an oh-so-cute wrinkled nose).
