Here are some shots from the recent event Kristen photographed for Saratoga Mama. We had a great turnout (as always!) and saw a lot of new faces this year. Thanks so much to Lizzie for setting it up and to all of those who attended. And don’t forget to check out Saratoga Mama if you live in the Saratoga/Clifton Park/etc. area. It is run by a great friend of mine and they always host tons of fun events and meet-ups… some for the kids, and some for some important child-free time!

Meet Conrad, who recently turned a year old, has a wardrobe to die for, and the cutest crinkly nose smile you’ll ever see. I had the pleasure of photographing this handsome man at his family’s farm in eastern New York. I don’t know how I get so lucky with these locations, but it was an absolute dream… fields, orchards, barns, views. It was a muggy morning and we covered a lot of ground (and four outfits!) but Conrad was a trooper and the results made it all worthwhile!

The first image in this set was taken in a beautiful stone gazebo where his parents got married. Love incorporating extra special places!

I’m in the midst of a proofing marathon (the one perk to getting rained out from shooting today!) but wanted to share two of Kristen’s recent sessions. I loved the soft, classic feel of the P. family’s session… that sibling shot screams to be put on a fine art canvas, as it is so timeless! In the next session, Erynn’s cousins were visiting for the summer and her mom arranged a session as a surprise for Grandma and the boy’s mom. Looking at these images, you would have never known that this trio weren’t brothers and sister. Ethan and William’s affection for their little red headed cousin, and her adoration for them, is quite obvious!

hazy, hot & humid

Phew… we are back up and running! I have tons of images to share, as we’ve had a busy few weeks. Shooting in this heat has not been fun, but luckily we’ve had loads of cute kids to make it all worthwhile! I will be posting some more sessions in the coming days. To clients: thank you for understanding that I can’t showcase every family I photograph on the blog. I try to post as many as possible, but there just aren’t enough hours in the day to get everything done! I love all my sessions equally, so it is purely random selection!

Kristen tagged along and second shot this session as the I. family are old friends of hers who moved to Kansas City. They scheduled a session for when they were back home on vacation, and boy was I glad. Anyone who knows me knows that I have an obsession with long hair on little boys! I think the heat ended up being a positive thing as we had some nice, soft light and humidity to really make that wavy hair do its thing! My hair, on the other hand…

This was a fantastic session for me. I loved the thought behind it, the execution and the beautiful images that we came away way. Sophia’s mom wanted to capture on “film” the amazing relationship that she, her daughter, and Sophia’s furry big sister share. Sophia was a total natural in front of the camera… smart, funny, talkative, with a penchant for drama (which translates so well into portraits). But the main thing was the bond between her and her mama. With hardly any coaxing from me, they did what they knew to do… laughed, played, walked, snuggled. I know that both of them will cherish these images for many, many years.

Kristen got to photograph a bunch of cuties recently for one of our summer portrait mixers. I love the feel of these images… light, airy and seasonal, with a rustic touch (which is SO in right now!) Kristen is the master of getting connection with siblings. I loved getting to check out the beautiful images she created. To the families that participated… thanks so much for coming!

On second thought, I’m not sure why I selected the black and white version of this image below. I love his intense expression in that format, but this little man had the most stunning red hair I have ever seen!

Quick scheduling note: We are already several clients deep on our fall waitlist. The schedule will be open as of the end of the month, but those who are looking for 1st priority (specific dates, travel sessions) can be put on the waitlist if you so choose. It is shaping up to be an awesome autumn!

Clients may recognize Zach from last year’s studio holiday cards. He was still as easy to photograph and sweet as could be for his 1st birthday session. His parent’s have a beautiful historic home with similarly beautiful property. That, combined with his mama’s impeccable taste in clothing, made for a dream of a session!

Happy 4th of July! I hope that everyone enjoys a wonderful weekend full of food, fun and fireworks (and for those of your who are local, hot swimming weather!) Before embarking on festivities, here are three stunning, dark haired beauties I worked with recently.

I last saw Ava and Layla a year ago… Ava still was the same (shy at first, but so fun and sweet once she bursts out of her shell), but Layla has blossomed into a fast moving and feisty two year old. It’s funny how you forget they grow when you don’t see them for a while! I can’t get enough of their thick, gorgeous hair.

Cue even more hair envy when I met Marcella. How fantastic are those ringlets? I had a blast photographing her, as she is at the age where she loved being in front of the camera (this girl posed herself!) and just full of personality and life.

Maya’s session is another one those where the child, location, clothing, posing, and everything comes together to create a wonderful end product. Needless to say, it was VERY hard to narrow these down! We shot a portion of these at a scenic historic fort near NY’s amish country (which I am embarrassed to say I didn’t know existed until I passed several horse-drawn buggies!) Maya was a total ham and such a pleasure to photograph.

I photograph a lot of beautiful children (that’s just a fact) but Madeline, one of my long time clients… she just has the LOOK. There is something about her that I think is simply stunning. Her parent’s just bought a beautiful, historic home in the Catskills that was a dream to work at. I will stop writing and let this sweet lady speak for herself… she needs little introduction!
